He was a member of Kennedy School Board, serving as president, 1948 to 1950, the South Red River Town Board, 1947 to 1950 and the State house of representatives, 1950 to 1958. He served as Republican leader in 1957 and 1958. In 1959, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-sixth and to the five succeeding Congresses serving until 1971. Not a candidate for reelection, he was Administrator of the Packers and Stockyards Administration of the United States Department of Agriculture in 1971 and 1972. A Good Woman Passed Away

Mrs. Chas Westberg of Vega, died last Sunday morning, aged 37 years, 1 month and 29 days. Deceased gave birth to a baby a few days before and death resulted from complications following this ordeal.

Deceased leaves a sorrowing husband and seven children to mourn the irreparable loss of a good, affectionate wife and mother. Among the children is the little baby for whose birth the mother gave her life, and who never will learn to know a mother's sweet voice. Mrs. Westberg was a good Christian woman, whose life was a blessing and a benediction to all within the sphere of her influence.

The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon this week and was conducted by Revs. C. A. Jacobson of Crookston and E. O. Chelgren, of this city. It was a large funeral, many friends being there to pay their last tribute of love and respect to the memor of deceased. Peace to the memory of a good, noble woman.

The sorrowing husband and the children bereft of a mother's guiding and loving hand the community extends most heartfelt sympathy.

680 White Star Line's sister ship to the Titanic, the S.S. Lusitania, was 240 meters, or 790 feet long. Powered by four steam turbines, she could reach a speed of 25 knots. She was trafficking the Atlantic Ocean from 1907, and into World War I. On the first of May 1915, she left New York with 2171 passengers. Six days later she was torpedoed by a German submarine and sank in 18 minutes. Nearly 1200 people drowned.
