Notes |
- White Star Line's sister ship to the Titanic, the S.S. Lusitania, was 240 meters, or 790 feet long. Powered by four steam turbines, she could reach a speed of 25 knots. She was trafficking the Atlantic Ocean from 1907, and into World War I. On the first of May 1915, she left New York with 2171 passengers. Six days later she was torpedoed by a German submarine and sank in 18 minutes. Nearly 1200 people drowned.
